Covenant Health encompasses two distinct legal entities — a civil corporation, Covenant Health and a public juridic person, Covenant Health Systems. Both entities are led by Covenant Health’s CEO and President, Stephen Grubbs.
This is consistent with the Grey Nuns concern for the ongoing ministry and their decision in the 1990s to transfer responsibility for their ministry to qualified and capable lay leaders. The creation of the Public Juridic Person of Pontifical Right, or PJP, safeguards the organization’s Catholic identity and ensures that its Mission will continue to be thoughtfully executed.
